Be careful of your being manipulated, hamas is making a lot of this happen. Everyone is suffering and you focus only on a Gazan child. 1000's more are dying in Yemen and other countries but they do not have PR machines behind them.

Perhaps watch the Free Press interviews with Haviv Rettig Gur. Then review your promotion of a possible dishonest narrative.

Pointing to other tragedies like Yemen in order to deflect from Gaza is a classic whataboutism. The fact that civilians suffer elsewhere does not make the deaths of thousands of Gazan children any less real or any less urgent. Moral concern is not a zero-sum game. If anything, being horrified by Gaza should sharpen our awareness of Yemen, Sudan, and beyond. Dismissing Gazan suffering as “PR” denies the reality documented by the UN, the WHO, and countless independent aid organizations on the ground.

The idea that focusing on a Gazan child is “manipulation” misunderstands what Hamas wants. Hamas thrives on polarization and hatred. Compassion for civilians is not their propaganda; it’s the antidote to their tactics. Acknowledging mass civilian death does not erase Hamas’ crimes on October 7th; it insists that Israel not mirror them by disregarding innocent life. If Israel is to remain a democracy true to Jewish values, it must be held to higher standards than a terrorist organization.

Finally, invoking one journalist’s interviews cannot erase the mounting evidence: collective punishment, starvation, and the killing of tens of thousands are not “narratives,” they are war crimes. Pretending that concern for Gaza’s children is dishonest only isolates Israel further and undermines its long-term security. Choosing compassion is not manipulation. It is a high probability way out of endless cycles of violence.

There was at least one other way to have approached the tragedy and horrors of Oct 7. Israel did not pick that path: https://alexhorovitz.substack.com/p/choosing-peace-over-retaliation

I am afraid that the situation is already worse than that. Israel's plans for the Palestinians - death and perhaps exile in the near future for Gazans, increasing pressure for people in the West Bank leading eventually to the same thing, and God knows what for Palestinian Israelis - is just one facet of the growing Judeo-fascist movement (my term, parallel to Islamo-fascism, not to mention Christo-fascism in the US). I've seen this coming or a long time but I think Israel is crossing over into a different state of being than the one we have known for decades. https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2025-08-09/ty-article-magazine/.highlight/soon-no-liberal-will-be-able-to-live-in-israel-the-idf-has-already-fallen-to-messianism/00000198-7aad-d257-a1f9-feed29e80000?dicbo=v2-bECYOtC&utm_source=traffic.outbrain.com&utm_medium=referrer&utm_campaign=outbrain_organic
